From the Farm — Que Phong, Nghe An

Quế Phong District · Nghệ An Province · Northwestern Highlands bordering Laos

19°37′N · 104°46′E · 300–800 m above sea level · Highland forest loam

Elevation

300–800 m steep forested slopes — Quế Phong's namesake ('Quế' = cinnamon) reflects centuries of cultivation at this altitude.

Climate

Cool highland monsoon — avg. 20–24°C, high humidity, distinct wet season (May–Oct) — ideal for slow bark growth and oil concentration.

Soil Type

Deep forest loam on sloped terrain, rich in organic matter — supports the long 8–10 year maturation cycle.

Quế Phong — literally "Cinnamon Peak" — has cultivated cassia cinnamon for generations on the steep highland slopes of northwestern Nghệ An, bordering Laos. Trees are grown for 8 to 10 years before their bark reaches export thickness and peak essential oil concentration (up to 4–5% cinnamaldehyde). Bark is hand-peeled in two harvest windows — March–April and August–September — then sun-dried and hand-rolled into quills or graded into cut sticks and split bark. The altitude and humid highland climate slow the tree's growth, concentrating aromatic oils in a way lowland-grown cinnamon cannot match. Every batch is COA-tested for oil content and moisture before packing into 10 kg cartons for export.

Quality Control Process — Farm to Port

01

Tree selection

Only trees 8+ years old selected — bark thickness and oil concentration peak at this maturity in Quế Phong's highland climate.

Hand-peeling

Bark hand-peeled in two seasonal windows (Mar–Apr, Aug–Sep) when sap flow allows clean removal without damaging the tree.

03

Sun-drying & rolling

Fresh bark sun-dried and hand-rolled into quills, or left flat for cutting into sticks — natural curling as moisture drops.

04

Grading & cutting

Sorted by bark thickness and oil concentration; cut to 8–10cm or 13–15cm sticks per buyer spec, or kept whole as quills.

05

COA lab analysis
